Bison Return to the Blackfeet – for PBS R&E Newsweekly

In April of 2016, a herd of buffalo were trucked down from a Canadian national park and released on the Blackfeet tribal lands near Browning, Montana.  The tribe is intent on re-building a wild herd.   These bison are direct descendants of a herd that roamed Western Montana 150 years ago.  The Blackfeet had depended on the animals for food, clothing, tools and shelter for more than 10-thousand years.  We take a closer look at the deep spiritual connection these Native Americans feel towards the magnificent animals. This is a film Ned did with Lucky Severson for the PBS series, Religion and Ethics Newsweekly.
